What originally started as a bait catching expedition led to a last minute change of plans. We loaded up on bait and decided to head out on an overnight trip. We left out about 10PM, ran about 40 miles from our launch, anchored up, and fished until daylight. Overnight we put some nice fish in the box, while getting broken off a few times. As daylight broke, we high speed trolled for about 20 miles trying to hit a Wahoo with no luck. We then went about 26 miles west to work on our snapper limits. As we were about to leave, a group of at least 50 pompano dolphin began schooling by our boat. I hooked the first one up and handed the rod off, then rigged up other poles to fuel the frenzy. When all was said and done, there were 34 in the boat. It was a great weekend with cousins and friends.
